6 pm – Call to Order

6:02 pm – Introduction of Candidates Other Than Candidates for Congress

  • The time to speak for each will be based on the number that respond to the event.

6:30 pm – The Candidate Forum will begin –

Format:

Opening statement – each candidate 4 minutes

Question #1 to Candidate A 30 seconds

Candidate A responds 2 minutes

Candidate B responds 2 minutes

Each candidate will be given 1 min. for a rebuttal

Question #2 to Candidate B 30 seconds

Candidate B responds 2 minutes

Candidate A responds 2 minutes

And so on ………………….

Closing Remarks – 2 minutes

Ground Rules

  • All of the viable candidates for the featured office will be included. ***
  • A format will be chosen which will give each of the candidates a chance to speak with time limits and which will be fair to all of the candidates.
  • Format:
  • Opening statement – each candidate 4 minutes
  • Question #1 to Candidate A 30 seconds
  • Candidate A responds 2 minutes
  • Candidate B responds 2 minutes
  • Each candidate will be given 1 min. for a rebuttal
  • Question #2 to Candidate B 30 seconds
  • Candidate B responds 2 minutes
  • Candidate A responds 2 minutes
  • And so on ………………….
  • Closing Remarks – 2 minutes
  • There will be a timekeeper to monitor time limits. The timekeeper will send a message through when the speaker has 30 seconds left and when time has lapsed. Upon time limit expiration, candidates will relinquish the floor.
    • Remember that this is an online format and if a candidate does not adhere to the time restraints they can be muted.
  • Candidates who choose not, or are not able, to participate in the forum may not send a substitute, but may submit a brief statement, which will be read by the moderator.
  • Written questions from county chairs will be vetted prior to the event.
  • The people who serve as moderator, interviews, question sorter, etc., will have no connection with the candidates or with issues that any of the candidates are strongly identified with.
  • No candidate literature/paraphernalia will be displayed.  This means that candidates and their supporters will be asked not to wear any campaign badges, tee shirts, etc. during the forum. After the forum, candidate literature may be available to observers..
  • The forum will last approximately one hour
