Dear Fellow Democrats-
Welcome to 2021! I am thrilled to be ushering in a new year and a new President, along with a progressive majority on the State Supreme Court, and continued leadership from our Representatives in the US Senate and House. Our distinguished members of Congress continue to be our voice in Washington DC – fighting for education, health care, fair wages, clean water, and much needed relief from this global pandemic.
2020 was a challenging year. And I suspect that in 2021 we will continue to be tested in new ways, but I am confident that our Democratic family is ready to take on those challenges together. With local elections in every corner of the state we remain committed to working in all 83 counties – talking with voters about the issues that matter the most to them, mobilizing volunteers, and electing Democrats!
As we continue our work in 2021, we are simultaneously building for the 2022 elections. We will be watching the State Legislature closely, holding members accountable that fail to put Democratic values first. We will continue to support Governor Whitmer and her work to increase the quality of our lives. We will uplift Attorney General Dana Nessel as she holds people responsible for actions that harm Michiganders. And we will stand with Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson as she ushers through new legislative districts with the Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission and continues to fight to protect our right to vote.
Like many of you, I lost a number of friends and loved ones in 2020 to COVID-19. As we get closer to full distribution of the vaccine, I urge all of you to stay safe. I am hopeful for an easier year ahead for everyone and look forward to working alongside each of you in 2021.
As always, please reach out to the staff at the MDP if there is anything we can do to support you and your work.
All the best,
